The RBVIYC run an extensive ‘After School’ sail training programme for all levels of child sailor ages 6 – 18. These are run by our professional, qualified sailing instructors in a fun and safe environment.
- Beginners Class - Tuesday
Designed for the younger sailors or those with no sailing experience. These courses are run in Optimists for the smaller, lighter children, and Lasers for the larger child.
- Intermediate Class - Tuesday
For those children who have completed a beginners course, or those who have already mastered the basics. The intermediate class is designed to improve sailing technique and teach how to sail efficiently. Also provides a small introduction to racing.
- Development Team – Thursday and Saturday Afternoon
Children who have mastered efficient sailing can move on to the development team. Advanced sailing techniques and sailboat racing are the emphasis here. It is from the development team that potential candidates are invited to try out for the National Team – Team BVI.
Team BVI is the national youth sailing team, and represents the BVI in International regattas. To participate in Team BVI the child sailor must compete in Team BVI selection process. See Team BVI for more Details.
Lessons start at 3:30pm through to 5:30pm week days and 1:00pm through to 4:00 pm on a Saturday. Each course charged at $240 per term.
